Inspired by the Fortune 500, Forward Fooding annually presents the FoodTech 500, the world’s first definitive list of the global entrepreneurial talent at the intersection between food, technology and sustainability. The FoodTech 500 showcases selected international AgriFoodTech startup and scaleup companies using a unique methodology to rank them based on their business size, digital footprint, and sustainability practices.
We were proud to have been included in the list last year, and this year we’re thrilled to not only be included, but to now be listed in the top 100.
With over 2500 applicants from more than 47 countries vying for a spot in the list, not only is it an achievement that we have made it to the 79th spot, we are particularly pleased to have been recognised as fulfilling the UN Sustainable Development Goals of Good Health & Wellbeing, Zero Hunger, and Decent Work & Economic Growth.
How the list was created
To be included on the list for initial consideration, a company must first meet three criteria:
- The core company activity fits with their definition of AgriFoodTech: “The emergent sector exploring how technology can be leveraged to improve efficiency and sustainability in designing, producing, choosing, delivering & enjoying food”
- Be an incorporated entity with an active website
- Be less than 15 years old
From here, a unique set of algorithms determined a number of scores including business size, digital footprint, and sustainability, and it’s these scores which were aggregated to give a final score out of 300 and a ranked position in the overall list.
“We are really pleased to have made it onto the FoodTech500 list again this year and we are particularly proud to be listed amongst the top 100! We are honoured to be recognised for the innovation we are driving with our partners and clients in the industry. With the launch of our newest initiative, Health+, our technology now makes it even easier for shoppers to meet their health and wellness goals.”
